The Special COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress Grant ended on 30 April 2021.

The Social Security Agency (SASSA) confirmed this in a statement reminding clients that the Grant ends at the end of April.

The Grant originally applied from May to October 2020 but was extended twice, in November 2020 and in February 2021, until the end of April 2021.

The R350 per month Grant formed part of the R500 billion economic and social relief measures announced by president Ramaphosa in April 2020 as part of the national response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

SASSA emphasized that no new applications will be accepted after today but all approved applications that have not yet received the money will still be paid.
