Norton Rose Fulbright South Africa Announces New Senior Promotions & Appointments

Norton Rose Fulbright is pleased to announce a total of five promotions to director level and one to equity, and five appointments:

Salaried director promotions:

  • Raynold Tlhavani (dispute resolution and litigation, Johannesburg)
  • Peter Lamb (dispute resolution and litigation, Durban)
  • Riccardo Petersen (dispute resolution and litigation, Johannesburg)
  • Daniel Breier (dispute resolution and litigation, Cape Town)
  • Laura Kiwelu* (project finance, Dar es Salaam)

Salaried to equity director promotion:

  • Siviwe Anthony (corporate, Johannesburg)

In addition to these promotions, Sbu Gule has been appointed for a second five-year term as chairman of the South African practice. Sbu was the first African to be appointed global chair of the firm in 2014. He plays an active role in the Global Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Council (GDIAC) with a particular focus on supporting lawyers from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Andrew Robinson, head of transport for Africa and practice group leader for disputes, has also taken on the position of Cape Town head of office. Keller Snyman Schelhase, a Cape Town based law firm, recently became Norton Rose Fulbright and bolstered the team with the addition of directors Anton Schelhase, Lauren Fine and Andrea Keller.

The firm has seen numerous appointments this year including Jason Whyte who joined the employment and labour team in the Cape Town office and Lilian Githunguri*, an English law qualified construction and infrastructure lawyer, who joined the Dar es Salaam office.
