At the annual Dealmakers Awards held on Wednesday 18 February 2020, CEO of Juta, Kamal Patel, recognised Webber Wentzel as winner in both the 2019 Juta-sponsored categories: Top M&A (mergers and acquisitions) Legal Adviser by Deal Value, and Top M&A Legal Adviser by Deal Flow.

This year marks the ninth year that Juta has sponsored these awards, which pays homage to the contribution that the legal fraternity has made in the country’s M&A environment. “Juta has been on a parallel path with the legal sector since the early 80s, be that in the provision of the legal information we provide, and more recently in the introduction of AI technology for the legal profession, Jutastat Evolve,” said Patel.

“Webber Wentzel’s awards are well-deserved given its involvement in 2019 M&A transactions by exchange listed companies, valued at R50.86-billion through a flow of 52 deals,” continued Patel who also paid homage to not just the top award recipients, but acknowledged all participants in the M&A legal environment in the country, especially given the current tough economic climate. “Juta respects your endurance, your guidance and your support,” he said.
