IP lawyer Elaine Bergenthuin wins Regional Business Achiever Award

Elaine Bergenthuin, Managing Partner of De Beer Attorneys, won the award for the Regional Business Achiever of the year, presented by the Businesswomen’s Association of South Africa (BWASA), in Cape Town 26 July 2017. BWASA, a non-profit organisation, is the largest and most prominent association of business and professional women in the country, highlighting women’s business issues across the country.
The Regional Achiever Award, presented on Wednesday evening by the Cape Town branch of the association, actively seeks to identify, acknowledge and cultivate entrepreneurs, corporate and professional women leaders in the various regions. Bergenthuin was nominated in the Professional category for her leadership in business and outstanding contribution to De Beer Attorneys, which was selected the best IP firm in South Africa last year.
“We are very humbled by the award and honoured to be associated with such a prestigious organisation,” said Bergenthuin.
A qualified electronic engineer, Bergenthuin has built her litigation career specialising in securing patents for software programmes and technology. She has also acted on behalf of industry leaders in the ICT and telecommunication sectors in South Africa with regard to their intellectual property requirements including successfully representing clients in patent and trademark related matters before the High Court of South Africa.
