This 2-hour webinar will give a high-level overview of the draft code and will deal with the implications for employers, as well as the context and principles guiding the implementation of the draft code.
On 20 August 2020, the Minister of Employment and Labour in South Africa published the Draft Code of Good Practice on the Prevention and Elimination of Violence and Harassment in the World of Work for public comment.
The draft code builds on the existing legal framework, in compliance with the standards of the ILO and requires the employer to take proactive and remedial steps in preventing discrimination, harassment and workplace bullying. The Code, while currently in draft form, clarifies employer liability for discrimination and harassment, including workplace bullying, and responsibilities in dealing with violence and harassment, requiring employers to maintain a safe and healthy work environment and to implement awareness training and ensure adequate access to treatment, care and support services.
