Deon is a partner at Eversheds Sutherland's Intellectual Property Department. Deon is a Patent Attorney and Metallurgical Engineer, with an active interest in cutting edge technology in the general, chemical, metallurgical, process, mechanical and electrical engineering, material science, mining, pharmaceutical, agrochemical and agricultural inventions, and software technology fields.
Deon specializes in the preparation of patent and registered design applications, the filing, prosecution and enforcement of these across the world, and the provision of legal agreements and infringement and validity opinions relating to technology.
Deon litigates on technology matters, with a special focus on multinational technology infringement litigation in the South African context.
Deon’s recent experience includes acting in patent infringement matters relating to agricultural chemicals, semi-automated remotely controlled industrial inspection equipment, and alarm systems; acting in copyright infringement proceedings relating to insurance contracts, and acting in conflict of interest proceedings relating to confidential and privileged information.
