Alert Level 1 Regulations set down

Alert Level 1 Regulations have been published in Government Gazette 43725.
The cooperative governance and traditional affairs department published the Regulations in terms of the Disaster Management Act.
The Regulations focus on, inter alia, the movement of persons, mandatory protocols when in a public place, attendance of funerals, gatherings, rental housing, controlled visits by members of the public, partial re-opening of borders, public transport, sale and dispensing of liquor and operation of economic sector.
As regards movement of persons, every person is confined to his or her place of residence from 00H01 until 04H00 daily.
In terms of mandatory protocols when in a public place, everyone is expected to, when in a public place, wear a face mask except when undertaking vigorous exercise.
Other measures include attendance at a funeral limited to 100 persons or less; gatherings at social events limited to 250 persons or less in case of an indoor gathering and 500 persons or less in case of an outdoor gathering; gatherings at a workplace for work purposes are allowed; gatherings for recreational purposes at cinemas, theatres, concerts and live performances limited to 250 persons or less in case of an indoor gathering and 500 persons or less in case of an outdoor gathering; gatherings at sports grounds and fields, beaches and public parks and museums, galleries, libraries and archives are allowed; night clubs are closed to the public; travelers from the African Continent and from countries outside the African Continent with a low rate of COVID-19 infection and transmission allowed from 1 October; international travel from countries listed as having a high COVID-19 infection and transmission rate will remain prohibited except for business travel and liquor to be sold by a licensed premises for off-site consumption from 09h00 to 17h00, from Mondays to Fridays, excluding weekends and public holidays.
Activities that remain prohibited include night vigils, night clubs, passenger ships for international leisure purposes, attendance of any sporting event by spectators and international sports events.
The Regulations come into operation at 00H01 on 21 September 2020.
Meanwhile, in Gazette 43719, the department published a determination of alert levels and hotspots.
The determination stipulates that Alert Level 1 will apply nationally from 00H01 on 21 September 2020.
